I stopped for breakfast and lunch on a day trip organized by a senior citizens' center in the Grao del Castellón. The breakfast sandwiches were decent. My father-in-law and I nearly finished a bottle of red wine. My wife didn't care for the crappy coffee, but she enjoyed the #Colacao. The carrijillo with rum didn't look familiar. The bad reviews about the rooms have nothing to do with my visit.

The rooms were clean and had the basic things you need, so it worked fine for a one-night break. It's a cheap two-star hotel, and you get what you pay for.

One of the cheaper hotels in town, and overall decent value. Our room was clean, comfortable, and fine, but smelled a little of smoke. I guess we hadn't asked for a non-smoking room. There was also a slightly odd smell in the building in the morning.

The place itself is basic, little more than a hostel, but the people running it were extremely rude, one in particular. We'd stayed several times before, so I expected some familiarity at check-in. Instead, a young woman refused to communicate in anything but grunts and dismissive gestures. My Spanish isn't perfect, but I've lived here for years and know how to make myself understood. I also know when someone is pretending not to understand. She insisted the dog fee was €20, though we'd always paid €4 per night before. When I questioned it, she spat at my wife and threw our passports at us. Later I complained to Booking.com, and when they called the hotel to clarify, the woman kept repeating, "No entiendio," even though she was speaking Spanish. Booking.com refunded us in full. I haven't given this place zero stars only because that wasn't an option. It's hands down the worst hotel I've stayed in, and I urge you not to consider it, however tempting the low price might be.

We got there before the room was due to be ready at 13:30, but they let us in anyway. There's a small lift, enough for two people with luggage. The receptionist was very friendly, though she didn't speak English. You have to pay for Wi-Fi, and the rooms are a little small, not really somewhere to spend the day. Ours had a TV, air conditioning, and a bathtub. The beds were comfy, though the sheets weren't really. Our room looked out onto the street, with the ocean on the horizon. It was a little loud, but fine with the windows closed. We stayed one night.
