We used the hotel as a very pleasant stop before catching the ferry from Bilbao the next morning. The suburban setting was quiet, the rooms were quiet too, and there was plenty of parking. The tram stop was a 10-minute walk away, and taking it six stops into the city centre was easy. Vitoria was okay, though honestly it wasn’t my favourite Spanish city. Our modern twin room was beautifully furnished, with comfortable beds, lovely linen, quality towels, robes and sumptuous bathroom fittings. Dinner at the restaurant was great, and the breakfast was the best of the six hotels we stayed in on our trip.

The room was dirty, with urine on the toilet seat, a dirty pillow and many empty small soap bottles that hadn’t been replaced. Staff were rude and seemed not to care about foreigners. We were apparently not fancy enough for the restaurant and got seated in the cafeteria instead. I ordered a medium-rare steak, but it came completely raw. Breakfast was mediocre at best. This does not come close to the standard of a five-star hotel, and the whole experience was very bad. The pool area isn’t included in the price either, they charge 27 euros to swim. Spend your money somewhere else.

The reception team, especially “jefe de recepción”, did a lot to make our stay comfortable and smooth. We enjoyed our time here very much. The hotel has what I’d expect from a five-star place: good linen, which matters a lot, comfortable beds, clean areas and good soundproofing. The room photos on the website match the rooms 100%.

Getting here by car makes the location convenient. The rest didn’t meet what I’d expect from a typical four- or five-star hotel: the gym is tiny and has old machines, there’s no coffee available for self-service at breakfast, and the room has a micro-TV that looks over 15 years old.
