Hotel Thalasso Cantabrico - Resort Las Sirenas

The room was comfortable and clean, with a nice view of the sea, but there were a few letdowns. At around 200€ a night, the spa still costs extra. Breakfast had a little of everything, though the quality was poor, including weak juice and a croissant that seemed to be from the day before. Some staff were nice, but you had to be lucky to get one of them. The terrace was shut in the morning, so I couldn’t sit up there and read. Nice hotel, just not up to four star standards and too expensive for what you get.

For €200 a night, this felt like poor value. The room had no facilities and looked like an average, cheaply decorated business hotel, though it was clean. Breakfast wasn’t included, and the extra we paid for it was disappointing. The spa cost more as well, and the setting was poor quality and very cold on a cloudy day in Galicia, with entry limited to a tightly scheduled time. I found the stay boring and not relaxing at all. This felt more like a clean motel than a 4 star hotel. Go somewhere else.

On my first trip to Spain, the people, food, and views kept getting better, a bit like the wine. The hotel sits on the coastline on a bluff, and I was lucky enough to stay on the top floor. I also met Jose' (hotel manager) and Mathao (night shift manager), who made me feel like family in such a gorgeous place. I’ll most certainly return.

The room was nice and the staff were friendly, but the parking, especially the garage, wasn’t good. The spa costs extra, and anyone can use it if they pay. Having access open to anyone took away from the point of choosing a spa hotel when use of the spa isn’t included in the price.
