The rooms were clean, though the bathrooms feel a little dated and could use some refurbishment. I was surprised to find the hotel right in the town’s main plaza, but it stayed quiet despite the central spot.

It’s in a good location, but the noise was really bad. Not a great choice if you’re a light sleeper.

The dining room and food were the real highlight: everything was beautifully prepared and delicious, with a lovely wine selection and fair prices for both food and drinks. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and the welcome was warm and friendly. Zafra itself is charming, and Hotel Plaza Grande, tucked into a corner of the main plaza, was a lovely surprise too.

We had a lot of fun on Christmas Eve with all the activity in the plaza, and the windows kept the plaza noise out amazingly well. It’s a very cute place right on the square, and the staff were great. The old building does have thin walls, though. It sounded as if the person above us was moving furniture all night. A room on the top floor might solve that. We’d stay again if we’re in the area.

The rooms are comfortable, the staff are really kind, and the restaurant is wonderful, with a very nice kitchen and tasty food. Such good value for the price. Love this place!
