Molino El Vinculo

The village and its medieval castle are worth seeing, and there are nice nearby restaurants serving traditional local food. We enjoyed our day in this authentic Spanish house, which felt like stepping back 7-8 decades. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfy, and the living room had enough space and sofas.

A chance to taste the olives and buy some, with a beautiful view from the place. It was a great way to learn about traditional olive production using a manual press.

Visiting was one of my favorite parts of our Spain trip. I love getting a feel for local culture, and this place was exactly that. The family has been making olive oil for 11 generations, and the current family member running things also gave the tour, in Spanish. The old equipment was once steam powered before being converted to electricity. There were photos on the walls of the family with prize bullfighters and even with Ernst Hemingway. The olive oil was great, and the personal service showed what this kind of family ownership can offer.

We visited the oil mill as part of a tour group. It could have been a great experience if they’d actually been making oil while we were there. Instead, we just got an explanation of the process and an oil tasting, dipping stale bread into the oil in what felt like an attempt to get us to buy some. It missed the mark, and the hosts weren’t particularly entertaining.
