Parador de Zamora

The place has a stunning look and a great location. The pool feels dated, the breakfast buffet would be better if you ordered things like eggs from the server, and the rooms could be improved in size and style. Those things didn’t bother me much because the service was great and the atmosphere felt just right. The metered parking next door was cheap, convenient, and safe.

In mid-February, this felt like especially good value, and I’d love to come back. I’ve stayed at a few Paradors over the last 30 years, and this one captures what they’re about: a quiet, historic place in the heart of the Old Town, with lots of space and a superb location. The building is a 15th-century Moorish citadel turned into a luxury hotel. My room was fantastic, the layout worked well, and the large bathroom had a good shower. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. It was easy to pull up outside to unload bags. I parked overnight by the nearby Library for just 4€. The Reception teams gave me thoroughly professional help in both English and Spanish, which I speak fluently. They also helped us get the TV going in a social room, and the bar team looked after us with excellent Zamoran cheese and cured Leon beef. A great stay, even off season.

The rooms had the antique furniture you’d expect from the building’s history, alongside modern bathroom facilities. This Parador is based in a 15th-century Muslim citadel, and all the attractions are within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Right in the heart of the city, with helpful, friendly staff. The rooms are roomy and have modern furniture, and there’s plenty of natural light throughout the spacious, comfortable place. It’s a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I’d recommend having breakfast at the Parador, the buffet has lots of delicious options.
