Hotel Don Jaime 54

I stayed for work and felt completely safe and welcome. I’m a Muslim woman and don’t speak much Spanish, but the staff were very friendly, patient and accommodating. The hotel was amazing for the price and location. There are cafés, a grocery store, two halal restaurants and a small mosque nearby, and the main tourist spots are a 5-30 minute walk away. February was a bit cold, but the staff are happy to switch on the heat if you call or go to the desk. I’d definitely stay here again.

The bed was fabulous and the room clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff friendly. Great location, good quality rooms and service. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was a real letdown: there were no vegetables and hardly any fruit. Before my stay, the hotel asked about allergies and intolerances, but offered no vegetarian or gluten-free choices. The only special option I saw was lactose-free milk, so I don't know why they asked. My room stayed very cold, especially overnight. The hotel uses central heating, which would have been fine if it had been kept on, but after I asked reception several times, they left it very low and switched it on and off. The bathroom had no heater and was freezing in the morning. The corridors seemed warmer, and I could hear the heaters running there all the time. I got sick, possibly because of how cold the room was. I have basic expectations from a hotel: a warm room, a few vegetarian breakfast options, and a clean bathroom. This place managed only one of the three. It was the worst hotel stay I've had. The location and hospitality don't make up for it, and judging by the hotel's response to my review, they seem to blame guests instead of taking responsibility for how they operate.

We had a good stay and would come back. The room for three felt a little tight, especially with our 15-year-old son, who is 6'2, but it didn't spoil the trip. The central location was perfect for our 48 hours exploring Zaragoza.
