Reina Petronila

The cozy rooms and comfortable beds make this probably the best hotel in Zaragoza. It is a bit far from the old town.

The breakfast was fabulous, but the six nights we spent here were a huge disappointment, and this did not feel like a luxury stay. The hotel smelled moldy. Carpets and curtains were frayed, stained, and dirty; there were stains and dust everywhere. We had no hot water, and the shower would turn on by itself and leak all over from both the shower and bath. Some lights were out or flickering, the pillows were terrible, and the room Wi-Fi had only one bar and kept dropping, making work almost impossible. The pool was open to children for only three set hours a day. When I asked for help, staff seemed either untrained or too few to provide 5-star service. They were kind individuals, but most seemed clueless when asked for anything. I’ve had better pillows at a Motel 6. We’d prepaid for so many nights, and I should have taken more photos. The parking garage was nice, but expensive.

The room was huge, especially the really interesting bathroom, and breakfast was great. Such a fun stay!

The staff were friendly and service minded, and the cleaning was up to standard. We got a good rate, so the stay felt like fair value, and getting around from the location outside the center was easy with cheap, accessible public transport. I stayed at Hotel Reina Petronila in Zaragoza with a friend, and we were both satisfied. Still, it came across more as a solid four star hotel than a real five star one. Breakfast was decent, but didn’t have the variety or quality I’d expect at the higher end. The SPA apartment on the top floor could use an upgrade, and access to the pool, gym and sauna without towels provided needs attention. The location is a little away from the city center and historic old town, though that wasn’t a problem for us. I might stay again if I found another good rate, but I hope they improve the details that keep it from feeling five star.
