The gardens were my favorite part, especially the lilac I love, and the pool and lounge spots look out toward the Sierra Nevada. It was such a calm place to spend time outside, whether for breakfast or just a quiet moment. La Casa Grande de Zujaira is a house with more than 150 years behind it, and its restoration keeps the Andalusian feel while adding modern comforts. The care in the design shows everywhere. The owners have clearly put a lot of love into bringing it back, and that attention made the stay feel welcoming as well as comfortable. A lovely choice if you want a peaceful Andalusian break with a bit of modern luxury.

I asked Belén, the manager, about the cost and availability of renting the property for a weekend dinner with friends and family. She replied that they don't rent it for celebrations, and the answer came across as curt and rude. Access to the different areas also seemed either nonexistent or appalling. I wish them luck renting it just for people to sleep in.

We decided against holding our wedding at the large house in Zujaira from the start. The woman who showed us around seemed unenthusiastic and rushed through the tour, barely showing us much. The house also needs better maintenance. To me, the place felt overrated, from the building itself to the gardens where the wedding would have been held.

Six months after we first saw La Casa Grande de Zujaira, our wedding day finally arrived, and it went just as we’d dreamed. We rented the whole property for two days so our guests could relax there instead of needing to book a hotel. We made use of every space, and the estate looked spectacular. When we met Luis while looking for our dream venue, arriving at the house felt like love at first sight. The setting was beautiful and carefully looked after, with flowers chosen with exquisite taste and spectacular light that made us picture the most important day of our lives there. Thanks to Luis and his wife for letting us get creative and use their home for those two days. We’ll always recommend it for events. We’re completely sure it’ll be incredible when people put their whole heart into their work.
