Wabe Shebelle Hotel S.C

I’m reviewing the restaurants here. I’ve eaten there a couple of times, most recently at the Garden. The fish goulash was enjoyable, though it took longer than I expected to arrive. Service was okay but delayed. The whole hotel feels dated, and it doesn’t seem like renovation is planned.

The Wabe Shabelle is right on the main road, so it’s easy to get a taxi and return at night. I stayed in two different rooms, and both had shower problems. They really need to renovate, especially the bathrooms.

The Wabe Shebelle Hotel is in the Mexico area of the city, on the left side of Ras Abebe Aregay Street. It’s a prominent old hotel, one of Addis Ababa’s pioneering high-star establishments. Back in its day, its building was among the tallest in the area and stood out as a landmark, before newer giants such as the nearby Financial Industry building went up.

I nearly lost my whole bag, and my laptop and phone charger did go missing. The hotel had given my room to someone else even though my belongings were already inside. When I came back, another customer had been assigned the room. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, with terrible customer service.
