We paid $30 per night and felt we could have found much better hotels with nicer views and locations. Many aren’t listed online, so local tour guides may be able to point you to them. This place was very dirty and neglected. One of our two rooms had no hot water, toilet paper wasn’t provided until we asked, and the location was far from the main attractions. Clubs and questionable establishments nearby brought loud music from the street, and we had security concerns after dark. We even suspected the “hotel” might be used as a motel for dubious activities. I strongly advise against staying here.

I had a fantastic few nights here. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious, some of the best I had during my stay. The rooms need a little updating, especially the shower, which seemed old. Improve that and the place would be perfect.

I especially appreciated Nati, who was lovely and very helpful with lots of information. Breakfast was delicious, I had an omelet, and the rooms were nice and kept clean. There is hot water, but the heater takes a while to get going. It’s also very close to the bus station, which I really recommend.

We had a lovely two-day stay at this Axum hotel. The price felt very fair for what you get, and I’d recommend the restaurant and bar for a peaceful afternoon.

A really nice five-star hotel in Aksum. At Obelisk Hotel, the rooms, food, and service are all excellent.
