After ten years of visiting Lalibela and staying at plenty of hotels, Tukul Village is still my favorite. The gardens give the place a peaceful feel, and you might even spot friendly monkeys there. The staff are welcoming and can arrange whatever you need. The restaurant serves fresh food, especially the salads, and the traditional bure rooms are kept clean and have hot water. Its location is handy too: gift shops are right outside, and you can walk or take a short tuktuk ride to the church entrance.
