Yohannes really made this stay. More than a manager or host, he provided a level of help beyond what I've seen at many Western hotels, from medical issues to airport transfers and trips to churches outside Lalibela. He offered most of it with a smile and mainly for free; we paid USD 5 extra for all those things. Zan-Seyoum hotel was the best place we stayed outside the capital during our three weeks in Ethiopia. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, and breakfast was very good. It's around a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute Bajaj ride to the churches. I highly recommend it.

The terrace has a beautiful sunset view, and the rooms were clean with hot-water showers. Johannes and the staff did everything they could to make my stay comfortable and provide great service. This was the cleanest hotel I stayed in across Ethiopia. I absolutely recommend it.

The admission price for the 11 churches was a surprise, but the experience was unforgettable and I wouldn't have wanted to miss it. Thomas guided us patiently, and Yohannes was a wonderful host, always cheerful and ready to help. The room was outstanding, with comfortable beds, lots of light, peace and quiet, and excellent cleanliness. Breakfast was delicious too.

Yohannes was such a pleasant, accommodating host, and the room was clean and spacious. The place is a good option if you'd rather be a little outside the busier city center, though that does mean a longer trip to the famous churches nearby.
