The reception worker who helped us was exceptionally cheerful and friendly. There’s some age and wear in the rooms, but they were clean, quiet and very good overall. A useful detail, most rooms have a full-size fridge rather than one of those small, inefficient hotel fridges.

We picked the hotel because it was conveniently on our route from Oulu to Helsinki. Reception closes at 9 pm, so we had to hurry to get there, though we made it. The receptionist told us by phone she would have stayed later for us anyway. The building and rooms had a worn, socialist-era feel. The windows were old and poorly insulated, the furniture looked like it had been there since the 1980s, and some of the bedcovers were stained. For about 90 euros a night, that wasn’t what we expected. Our corner room was also too cold, and we couldn’t turn up the heat. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 9, which made our departure the next morning feel rushed. The whole stay was so bad it was almost funny.

We were given an upgrade when we arrived, and the room was brand new. The decor was beautiful, with lovely quality linen and towels. Breakfast was good, and the staff were very friendly. We really enjoyed staying here!
