The location is fantastic, about a ten-minute walk from the central station, with much of the route possible through the Kamppi shopping centre, bus and metro station. I slept well for three of my four nights once I got the air conditioning figured out. The room had been well kept, and the bathroom was huge and spotless. I booked a standard room and got a suite, almost like a flat without a kitchen, which I really enjoyed. The bed wasn’t quite my preference: I like a firm single mattress, while the Scandinavian top mattress was soft and thin, though I still slept well. Breakfast was a letdown by Radisson Blu standards, with less choice than at other hotels. There was major metro construction outside, but I couldn’t hear it from the eighth floor. Occupancy seemed quite low, and I understand the hotel is taking the chance to close soon for major renovations, then reopen sometime next year, perhaps in autumn. I can’t wait to stay again when it’s back open in the heart of Helsinki.

Breakfast was a pretty standard hotel spread. The location is really good, close to restaurants, bars and shopping. My room seemed newly renovated and felt fresh and clean, with soft beds and a temperature that was easy to adjust. The shower pressure and temperature were good, but I’d rather have had a shower than a bathtub. It was frustrating to see only one person at reception when several guests needed help.

The staff made us feel welcome from reception to the breakfast room. They were professional, friendly and wanted us to enjoy both Helsinki and the hotel. Travelling with our daughter, who has autism and a learning difficulty, we never felt uncomfortable here. Of all the hotels we’ve stayed in, this is where we felt most relaxed. We enjoyed six nights here. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with a lovely bathroom design, rain shower and power shower. We appreciated that it was cleaned every third day, since daily fresh towels and sheets aren’t needed. Breakfast suited us well, with a good range of hot and cold items and plenty of fresh, healthy food. The breakfast staff were welcoming too. Attractions were within walking distance, transit was close and the central station was an easy walk. We hope to come back. Many thanks to the whole team.

The reception and outside of the building look plain and a bit old, so the first impression wasn’t great. But inside there are lovely, clean rooms with the basic amenities you need. It’s a good location for the city centre, the staff are very nice, and breakfast has a good selection. Thank you.
