Eurohostel

A 20-minute walk gets you to the centre, though the hostel is a little removed from things. It's a basic, fairly cheap place that works for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer. The beds are practical but simple, and the rooms are OK. Toilets and showers are shared, with separate facilities for women and men on every floor.

I picked this hostel because I would be sharing with only two other women. The receptionist kindly came up to the third floor to help when I couldn't figure out my locker, and after a while I worked out how to open it myself. Getting there from the airport by public transport took about 50 minutes, but it was easy and felt safe even though I arrived around 22:30. The hostel is perfect for the very affordable price. The breakfast buffet was good, though the kitchen lady pulled a face when I asked for another plate because my first one was covered in ketchup.

It's about a one-minute walk from the bus stop and five minutes from the Vikings ferry station. I loved staying here. The rooms were quiet and tidy, and the staff were welcoming and provided good service.

It was a great Helsinki stay for the price, and I was happy to find this place. I expected a hostel room with 6-10 people, but there were only two of us. The room was very clean and warm, and staff were helpful. There are a couple of market stores within a 5-7 minute walk, and the quality sauna was a big bonus. They also seem very conscious about sustainability.
