Hostel Suomenlinna

A good place to slow down and rest, with a guest kitchen and a big shared living room. Everything was very clean, and the ferry is right nearby. I also liked being able to walk around the island early, before the tourists showed up. Really cozy hostel.

A sea view from our clean, quiet room and the chance to stay by Suomenlinna fortress made this a dream one-night visit for us. The staff were helpful from arrival through breakfast, which was delicious. Our entry code failed at first, but the support line staff got us into the hostel. Kiitos, we’d be happy to return.

The island gets wonderfully peaceful in the evening once fewer tourists are arriving, and there are beautiful views all around just a few steps from the hotel. It seems like an ideal spot to write a book. The Suomenlinna ferry comes every 20 minutes, with its fare included in the AB ticket price. Staff were friendly and the food was high quality. The rooms are typical hostel standard, with about eight people to a room; sheets and towels were clean, and facilities seemed regularly maintained. The bathrooms could be better.

yo, this place was cool and felt well worth the price. I visited in winter and was worried the off-season might feel dead or creepy, but it was just fun. The spacious rooms probably help avoid that stuffy hostel feeling, though I can only speak for winter. The kitchen is limited, and the little businesses nearby were closed on winter nights, but they’re just around the corner. The hostel admin was really accommodating when I arrived late. The ferry ran like clockwork, and I liked that the bathrooms are separate from the rooms for privacy. Free lockers and locks are available outside the rooms too.
