Lapland Hotels Bulevardi

The missing basics in the standard rooms are hard to justify at this price. They don’t have toothbrushes, shower caps, or even complimentary bottled water, things I’ve found in hotels with fewer stars. I’ve been around the world and stayed in many five-star hotels, so I expected more here. On my last visit, I asked about water and reception told me to drink from the bathroom tap because we’re in Finland, or buy a 5.50€ bottle from the minibar. That didn’t feel like an acceptable way to speak to a guest in a high-end hotel. In the room I stayed in before that, the shower soap dispensers were empty. Small details like these really affect the experience when you get less than expected for the price and star rating. I’ve stayed at Lapland hotels bulevard three times now, once in the suite and twice in standard rooms of different sizes for two people. The suite was good, but not worth the price. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean, with comfortable beds and pillows. The theme comes through in the decor and atmosphere, and breakfast has lots of good options. The restaurant and bar are outstanding. Still, compared with five-star hotels in other countries, I don’t think it’s worth it.

The location worked well for getting around, with the main sights about a 15-20 minute walk away, and breakfast was delicious. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed having a sauna in the room. The only small issue was that it stayed very hot at night, even with the air conditioning turned all the way up.

Everything was good. The staff were nice, the rooms were clean and pleasant, and it was easy to get around. I didn’t eat here, but I had nothing to complain about. Very comfortable.

The Sunday brunch ran until 2 pm, and the lingonberry porridge was well made. Breakfast had a good range of gluten-free options, though I waited 20 minutes for an omelette, and there was no hot chocolate, which I found irritating. Some social media creators were filming during the busiest period, making it harder to move through the small breakfast area. The room had plenty of thoughtful touches, like four lighting settings controlled from one switch and being able to hear the TV in the bathroom. Soundproofing was excellent, and the room was clean. The bed was nice if you like a very hard one, and there were two pillow sizes. A miniature sauna is a great idea, but 40 minutes to heat it felt like too long. The robes weren’t soft or comfortable, perhaps they were chosen to fit the Lapland theme. There was reindeer fur throughout, which could be a problem for people with allergies, and dogs were allowed widely around the hotel, which some guests may like and others may not. E-car parking was a plus, and the location was perfect. I’ve stayed at this chain in many other cities and always found it excellent, but this visit wasn’t perfect. Drinks at €6.50 a bottle felt hugely overpriced. Despite the luxury room category, the room felt like just a room, and breakfast like just breakfast. There were good ideas and they were carried out well, but the service and execution seemed to vary from city to city.
