Scandic Pasila

I really like the breakfasts here, they have just what I love. The hotel is right by Pasila, which is handy, and the rooms are okay, though the bathroom could use some renovation. The Chromecast didn't work either. After my first of two nights, the cleaner took all but one towel, including the hand towel that was hanging on its hook. I don't understand that.

The breakfast selection was exceptionally good, especially the white bread rolls and oat porridge, which were delicious. The hotel is well located for the train station. My room looked renovated and was clean. The toilet looked old, but it was clean and worked fine, so it wasn't an issue.

The beds were okay, and the location is handy, close to Tripla with public transport connections to other parts of Helsinki. That's about where the positives end for me. The bathrooms were awful. The toilets barely flushed, so toilet paper stayed in the bowl, and the sink clogged randomly. There's a minibar charging 3.80 for a small bag of candy, seriously? There weren't really any extra plates or cups to use, and no microwave or water boiler. Omena Hotel and cheaper hotels have those, or a shared kitchen. Breakfast was sloppy, with no seasoning and slimy food, and I didn't think it was worth the price. The TV had only about three channels, all in Finnish, and the Chromecast was broken. If you NEED to stay here for ropecon, okay, but I'm sure you can find better. I'd go to the Omena Hotel instead.

We'd certainly try to stay here on our next family trip to Helsinki. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and professional. It's conveniently close to Pasila train station and the Mall of Tripla. There's also a good children's play area in the lobby, and the gym is exceptional, with three separate areas and different kinds of equipment.
