Hotel Golden Dome Iisalmi

The service was superb, one of the best experiences I've had. It's right in the city center with local services nearby, and a good choice for a visit to Iisalmi or a staycation. The rooms are nice, though some areas, like the corridors or the in-room sauna, could use a refresh. If you prefer private hotels with a distinctive atmosphere, choose this one.

I still don't know whether or when I'll get back the money I paid for a stay that never happened. After the hotel's mistake, I had to spend a lot of time and effort pursuing the refund, and the carelessness and lack of responsibility have left me with no trust in the place. I can't recommend this hotel. I booked and paid for a room through Booking.com, then the hotel called shortly afterward to say that a system error meant neither that room nor any other suitable one was actually available. This was the hotel's error, not mine. I repeatedly asked for written confirmation of the cancellation, but they never sent it. They also refused to take responsibility for refunding me and kept telling me to deal with Booking.com. They haven't responded to our refund requests with anything else.

The rooms are basic, but they follow the same design. What really deserves the praise is breakfast: everything was homemade or locally produced, fresh, and so tasty. For a reasonable price, you can also take in the beautiful design originally created for an orthodox church. Hotel Golden Dome is something other than just another hotel. Warmly recommended!

I was pleasantly surprised by this lovely little hotel in a former Eastern Orthodox cultural center. My room was clean and modern, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Having a small sauna in the room was a nice bit of luxury. Highly recommended!
