The activities were a highlight, thoughtfully organized and adjusted to suit both the group and the weather. There was plenty of delicious food, maybe even more than we could manage. The facilities were lovely, and every member of the team, from the kitchen and wait staff to the office staff and guides, was kind, capable, professional, and accommodating. Such a wonderful stay. I hope I can come back soon. Thank you all 🤎

We stayed in an Aurora Cabin, and watching the Northern Lights from bed was incredible. The bed was very comfortable, the heating and AC worked just right, and the modern bathroom was kept in great condition. Our seven days at Hotel Wilderness Nangu were excellent from start to finish. The full-board meals were all delicious, a real achievement given how remote the hotel is. The staff were consistently warm and professional, and the activity guides were knowledgeable, genuine, and clearly enthusiastic about their work. The equipment and clothing they provided were high quality and in perfect condition. Every activity we joined was a great experience. We’re fairly demanding guests, but the hotel impressed us, and we can recommend it without hesitation.

We lost our thermos on an excursion to Jaasari on February 20th, before we reached the cabin. A woman from this hotel was there on a snowmobile trip, so we asked whether she could pick it up on her way back and leave it at the hotel. When we stopped by on February 27th, the receptionist said they had collected it but couldn’t say where it was. Taking something that isn’t yours and admitting you picked it up is outrageous. It’s unusual to have this happen in a fantastic country like Finland. It should also be said that the woman wasn’t Finnish.

We were made to feel very welcome, especially thanks to Jasmi, Nora (and Eea), Mina, Ananda, Katariina, Asi, and the tall gentleman. I loved hearing their stories and sharing some laughs. The staff also helped make the birthday surprise I’d planned for my husband (Jonathan Tai) happen, and the cake was delicious. We’ll definitely return. This was my second stay at Wilderness Hotel Nangu, this time with my husband. We spent three nights in a warm wilderness room with comfortable beds. Half board was included, and the food was tasty and generous, though a little more choice among the dinner starters would have made it perfect. The Reindeer and Husky Day was a nice chance to learn about reindeer and Sami culture, especially since it coincided with Sami National Day. We had warm berry juice in a kota, and there was lots of lichen to feed the reindeer. The guides were helpful with photos. The huskies seemed happy and well cared for, though they were slower than dogs we’ve seen at other places in Finland. The ride was fairly easy, mostly flat, with a few exciting downhill stretches. I would have liked a short reindeer sleigh ride, more time to play with the dogs afterward, and guides offering photo help at useful moments, such as when drivers switched during the ride. A couple of tips: bring your own slippers, and disconnect from devices so you can immerse yourself in nature. It would also be great to have hot drinks available for guests to serve themselves in the main building.
