We had a lovely sauna after booking it, and also took a dip in the chilly lake, though there was algae on the steps going in. The food was good, and room service and champagne were nice touches. Our room was stunning, quiet, clean and calm, with a great layout, a fabulous view and a very comfortable bed. Really beautiful place, totally recommend.

The food and service were both excellent. It’s an idyllic spot for anyone wanting to experience Finnish nature, and only about an hour’s drive from Helsinki. Strong recommendation.

We found the stay very relaxing, though the steep price does make you wonder if it’s worth it. The A/C in our room was a basic on/off unit and kept cycling through the night with quite a bit of noise. The hotel itself is small and exclusive, and the staff were very friendly. Just be aware it isn’t staffed at night. The Barö sits on a small hill above the Barösund strait and fits nicely into its surroundings. Basic rooms look onto the hillside, while the better rooms face the strait. The mostly black interior and exterior use dark accents, spotlights and indirect lighting. A room’s window is almost a whole glass wall, so it feels like sleeping outdoors, but the blackout curtains keep the night dark. There’s a stocked minibar at the usual marked-up prices. You can book a private sauna and jacuzzi for an extra charge, use the communal morning sauna, or book a masseur if one is available. It’s a good place to unwind and enjoy some quiet time.

The landscapes are beautiful, and the people working there are so friendly. The front desk staff especially were always ready to help with whatever we needed. I highly recommend it.
