Out on the quiet edge of Järvenpää, this feels like a great hotel and restaurant. They serve rustic Finnish food, including a lunch buffet, which is nice if you want to get a feel for the area.

It’s a handy place to stay while visiting the historic art museums and houses around lake Tuusula. The upstairs rooms are simple and reasonably priced, with a little shared lounge where you can make tea or coffee. There’s also a slow but steady elevator, so the whole building is wheelchair accessible. Downstairs, the buffet lunch was entirely organic, fresh, and made with local ingredients. I’d happily recommend it. The building itself is a two-storey log house, moved here from somewhere in the Finnish härmän heartlands.
We left really impressed by the food, service, and atmosphere, and we’ll be back at Härmän Rati soon. The buffet had a lovely mix of vegetables, pulses, and grains, all put together deliciously. The borscht was full of flavor, and the hearty meatloaf came with ratatouille that was nothing like the usual pile of limp courgettes and eggplants you get at restaurants.
I’m here about once a week whenever I’m nearby. The setting feels fresh, clean, and inspiring, and the luomu food is amazing. It’s really tasty without being overloaded with spices or other extra ingredients.
It’s a peaceful, cosy guesthouse in a beautiful spot, with friendly staff and a decent breakfast. The only real issue was hearing sounds through the walls from the adjacent room. Otherwise, no complaints.
