Karolineburg Manor House Hotel

We stayed almost two weeks for work, and having a kitchen and washing machine was a big plus. The location was great too, just a short walk to the shops. Breakfast was always fresh and filling, and I enjoyed discovering the little rice and potato pies. The guest house room was clean and cozy, though a bit dated. I would've liked a sauna, but that would've meant paying a little more for the room. WiFi in my room was weak and could be improved by putting the router in the corridor instead of the cupboard. After the manager replied, I felt even more sure I'd return, and I've already recommended the hotel to colleagues.

I arrived after reception had closed, so the staff arranged a taxi from the airport in advance. They also checked regional bus times to help me get to a music festival in Kuhmo. Everyone was so helpful. The place felt comfortable and authentically Finnish, and breakfast was good.

The private sauna, which you could reach straight from the bathroom, and the spacious room made my stay very pleasant. The hotel is in an old manor, with rooms decorated in an antique style, so it has plenty of charm. Breakfast was a decent buffet, though nothing extraordinary. The staff weren't especially welcoming, and the price felt a little high. Still, it was a lovely stop in Kajaani.

The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly in an everyday way, and the atmosphere was relaxed. It seems fine for a short overnight stay, though Karolineburgh’s TripAdvisor description had set higher expectations. We paid just under 140 euros a night for two people in a suite with a sauna. The style felt mixed, with some rooms giving an early 1800s impression and the accommodation having a 1990s feel. Breakfast had hot and cold options and filled us up, but the quality wasn't great, and we weren't sure a couple of items were fresh. There was no dinner service.
