Snow Hotel

Those sculptures were amazing. Wow.

I left smiling after the woman at reception finally contacted Yöpuu hotel and drove me there. Getting to that point was baffling, though. My company had booked the Snowhotel campsite, which the website said was still open, but the two women at reception didn't seem to know their own services, prices, or availability. One had her finger in her mouth while greeting me. When I asked, in Finnish and very clearly, if I could stay there at all, neither answered. One wandered around the yard looking at snow cannons, then came back, tapped at her computer, checked her phone, and started calling somewhere without explaining anything. It was a very confusing atmosphere. I've never seen such helpless reception service, it would have been better to put kindergarten kids there. Are they all unpaid interns? Hopefully the beauty of the snow sculptures makes up for it when winter comes.

The Kemi SnowCastle feels like a winter fairy tale, with striking ice and snow architecture, detailed sculptures, and frozen rooms. It changes every year, so there's a new version to discover. Everything here is made of ice, with individual rooms and an ice bar inside. The rooms each have different decorations inspired by cartoons or stories. There's also an ice church, plus big and small slides where children can play and take photos.
