The nearby national park makes for a nice setting, and the area seems to have some history connected to the independence war. There’s also a kelo cabin on the property, made from naturally dried logs. Signs suggest it may still be rented out. The hotel itself, though, has been permanently closed for some time and looks abandoned and badly run down. I’m not sure why its Google Maps listing is still up.

The view was amazing, and the free bikes were handy for exploring the nearby forest. Our room was clean, and the service girl was very friendly and clearly doing her best. But the place feels like it was left behind in the 90s. We were there with just two other groups, and one was drunk and loud all night. There’s no gym, and aside from the pool, everything looked abandoned. Breakfast was a lonely meal in a huge, gloomy space, with few options that looked dried out. I couldn’t find any other staff, and the photos really don’t prepare you for the state of the place. At 150 euros a night, it isn’t worth it.

The location is lovely, and the receptionist was a very nice girl who did her best. She seemed to be handling everything alone, from greeting guests to working at the bar and restaurant. The rooms are badly outdated, though our second room was at least acceptable after a terrible first one. We couldn’t get anything we tried to order at the bar or restaurant because it wasn’t available. This was one of our less pleasant stays in Finland. The place needs to be managed better.

A great spot by the lake, with a really good kitchen. It’s quiet, clean, and the people are friendly. There are plenty of affordable ways to get out on the water, including SUP boards and rowboats for rent. They also have dancing now and then for seniors.

The hotel faces the lake and was a comfortable, pleasant place to stay around Kerimaki. Breakfast was wonderful, and parking was free. It’s a little way out of town, so you’ll definitely need your own transport to get there.
