The food was great every time we ate there, with good quality and plenty of choice, and the staff were brilliant. Reception and bar staff were spot on too. The men who helped us were polite and professional, couldn’t ask for more. We stayed over Christmas 2024, and the hotel was tidy and accommodating. Our room was clean and usable, though it and the shared areas could do with a spruce. The duplex stairs are very steep and tricky. I’d definitely recommend staying here, and we’ll be back.

We came back a year later and met the friendliest, most professional receptionist ever. She was amazing and a credit to the organisation. The hotel is superbly located, clean and comfortable, with great staff. The ski bus stops outside and goes to all parts of the resort.

The swimming pool at the sister hotel is available to Kaltio guests, which was a lovely surprise since we hadn’t realised when booking. We stayed half board for a week, one adult and two children aged 9 and 7, so we ate breakfast and dinner there every day. The buffet had good variety for all of us, from meat lovers to my daughter, who prefers vegetarian food. Everything was tasty, full of flavour, and nicely presented. The dining room has large windows looking outside. Our bedroom was warm and cosy, a little dated, but spacious enough for us and suited our needs. The place was well organised and run, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was outstanding.

The frozen lake is only a few minutes’ walk away and is great for spotting the aurora. There’s a sauna in every room, though the rooms are a bit dated. It’s a reasonable hotel with decent food, and the ski slopes and ice hotel / snow Village are a short bus ride away.
