Kotkan Residenssi Apartments

This is a great pick for budget travelers, though it won’t suit people expecting a reception desk and hotel breakfast. The old school building has single rooms with two beds, and the sofa can sleep a third person. You pay one rate for the room, so it’s a good value. There’s a TV and basic kitchen equipment, plus a nearby grocery store if you want to cook in the room’s kitchen corner. The room has a toilet but no shower. Sauna and shower facilities are downstairs and available on a first come, first served basis. There’s a bus stop nearby for getting to and from downtown Kotka, but figuring out the schedules is difficult. I recommend it.

There are lots of home appliances in the apartment, plus a barbecue and sauna. It’s a lovely, comfortable place, quiet and peaceful.

The host was arrogant, and the place was horribly dirty and disgusting. It hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. I’d give it a zero if I could, and I don’t recommend renting it.

I’ll come back when I’m in town again. Nice apartments.
