Caroline and her husband gave us excellent hospitality, and we’re very grateful. The house and apartments are new, clean, and beautiful. Guest feedback and the hotel’s high rating say a lot about the place. It would work well for a family with kids or a romantic getaway with your girlfriend. One of the best guest houses I’ve ever seen.

The warm welcome and choice of several rooms made a good first impression, and we picked the one we liked. The renovation and furniture are modern and well done. Our room and the ground floor had all the amenities. The large living room had a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, computer, movie projector, and internet. I’m typing this on my phone using the local Wi-Fi, with a beer by the fireplace. Booking all four rooms in the lodge section would suit a company event or off-site seminar. There’s a large, clean sauna right by the lake, with a small bridge down to the water for swimming. The sauna gets busy in the evenings, but being able to use it during the day more than makes up for that. This place is as much a farm as a tourist spot: they grow honey plants, peas, currants and other things, as well as a whole plantation of delicious strawberries. The farm fits naturally with the wild landscape. Unlike the Russian collective farm system, everything is clean, orderly, and laid out with characteristic European meticulousness. We paid 70 euros for a double room with a child and a very decent breakfast. Along with the home comforts, there’s a kids’ area with a sandbox, swings, and a full-size trampoline, plus a full-size tennis court. Open and enclosed verandas with tables are spread around the property. The barbecue gazebo sits on the bank of the channel between the lakes and is very well equipped: a wood-fired grill that also works as a fireplace, a barbecue grill, a special thick metal pancake pan almost a meter across, and a good gas grill. The usual charcoal grill is the one thing missing. There are rowboats, and you can have a romantic time on the lake or sit with a fishing rod. Judging by the small fish in the shallows, there should be plenty to catch. I could see myself living here. Compared with tourist complexes, there isn’t much space to wander. The main road has blind turns, so walking between areas with a child feels a bit scary. If you want to explore the large park, you can drive there; it’s nearby.
