Breakfast at Spauna was a real highlight. We weren’t sure what to expect, but there was a wide range of choices and the food was high quality. The hotel owner’s pets were cute and fun to play with, too. It was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. Our cabin was right beside the water and forest, so swimming and hiking were easy, and we enjoyed the many activities at Spauna. I especially liked the art nature trail, with its unusual interactive art pieces. The cabins are close to nature throughout the Turku Archipelago, and ours came with more than expected: a grill, sauna supplies, and extra bedding for the attic beds. The cabin did get hot and humid during the summer heatwave. At night, it could feel more bearable outside than in. Since we spent so much time outdoors, it didn’t affect our stay too much. I had a very enjoyable time and hope to come back for more nights.

A lovely break during a long bike trip, with friendly, helpful staff and a very nice restaurant. The cabin bathrooms and showers were clean. I can imagine things getting a bit competitive in the busy months, though, since all the cabins share just one toilet and one shower.

The restaurant pairs a great atmosphere with really good food. I grew up near Vienna and have eaten plenty of goulash, but today’s was the best I’ve ever had.
