Kotomänty Apartments

We stayed in Kotokuusi number one, which is practically the same place, though I can't really review it here. The cottage is modern, with a pleasant interior, plenty of room to hang out and sleep, and a little loft at the far end upstairs. The equipment is good, so that part was all fine. But if you like a warm place to come back to, these apartments may not be for you. The energy saving seems extreme: the temperature barely gets above 20 degrees. The living room, kitchen and hallway have stone floors that stay cold despite the geothermal heating. Even with the heat turned all the way up, the floor is only 19 degrees. One cottage has a warm-feeling floor, while the temperature settings in the other aren't consistent from room to room. The toilet and bathroom floors are warm. After six days, all the surfaces still felt cold, and we ended up eating dinner with our teeth chattering 😂 You'd need to raise the rent if that's what it takes to let guests relax and feel comfortable after a day on the slopes. The fireplace does heat the place, but the small amount of wood in the box runs out quickly 😅 The sauna can warm the whole apartment too, though it takes a while. The hot water situation isn't great either: maybe the boiler was made smaller to save energy, but there wasn't enough hot water, and even the warm water ran out pretty fast. Great job 👍😅

We used this peaceful, spotless new cabin as our base for day trips to places like Pyhävaara and Valtavaara. The sauna was good, and having a washing machine, drying cabinet and dishwasher was really handy.

The host was polite and helpful, and the accommodation was clean and worked well. It'd be a good idea to check basic things like the lights before new guests arrive. I can recommend staying here.
