My room at Hotel Lähde was unusually spacious compared with standard rooms at other hotels in Lappeenranta, and it was clean and well kept despite the hotel clearly not being new. The bed, pillows, and linen were comfortable, and I liked the branded Finnish bathroom products. I was lucky to get a fourth-floor balcony room with a lake view. The lakefront location is excellent, just a few minutes on foot from the city center. Check-in felt a bit slow to me, but checking out was easy: I just left the key at the desk. I’d happily choose Lähde over the other options in town.

The room was really quiet even with its windows facing the street, and it had a smart TV and mini fridge. The air conditioning worked great, everything was clean, and the bed linen felt fresh and crisp. Check-in went smoothly, and there’s a small car park in the backyard. Well worth the price.

The lakefront location was great, with a short walk to everything, and breakfast was tasty, though the choices were a little limited. I stayed in the Boutique side. The old building is lovely, and the room looked great at first glance: spacious, clean, and furnished with a comfortable bed. A bottle of water and some tissues would have been nice. The windows wouldn’t open, even though the weather was stunning and we were right by the lake. Fresh air only came from the AC. I asked for a key to open the windows, but was told that wasn’t possible in such an old building. Guess they had AC in 1850 already. Service was mixed, with some staff very helpful and others a bit grumpy. I didn’t try the spa.

The harbor is a nice spot, and the Boutique hotel rooms are decorated nicely. Breakfast was a good Finnish spread with plenty of choice.

The lake scenery was beautiful, and it was lovely to walk along the waterfront promenade after breakfast. Breakfast itself was tasty and varied, and you could even make your own pancakes. The sauna and breakfast room are in a separate building from reception, across the street, which I didn’t figure out straight away after a long journey. I stayed one night at the end of November and chose the hotel for its parking, breakfast, and convenient location. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and had what I needed, including fluffy towels, bathrobes, slippers, and shampoo. Thank you.
