A nice hotel in a beautiful spot beside a Finnish lake. The surroundings are excellent, and the sports facilities are very good, including an ice hockey rink.

The swimming pool is lovely, and the service was very pleasant. We stayed at Vesileppis twice this time. On our first visit, we had a very pleasant room and took a pleasant, modern elevator up to it. The second time, our room was older and smaller, with a worn rug by the door, and we reached it using an older elevator. I’d suggest calling the hotel to ask for a room in the newer section.

We only visited the moomi cave, so I can’t comment on the hotel or spa. You can get proper cold-weather clothes there, but shoes aren’t included. There’s more to see down there than just ice sculptures. Tickets are available in the lobby.

For 80 euros, this might be fine. At 150 euros, though, it was a huge disappointment. The rooms are worn out, there’s no AC, and breakfast was like something from an old gas station. The “spa” felt more like a noisy swimming hall. The restaurant and spa also close early, even in peak season. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking high-quality accommodation. It’s okay for a quick night’s sleep while travelling, but there are plenty of cheaper choices.

The rooms are basic, and mine didn’t have a fridge. Housekeeping could do better. The Moomin attraction and pools are fun for kids.
