Rönnäs Seaside Resort

It sleeps eight, although only four people can fit comfortably in the sauna at once. The place was great and quiet, but getting to the beach was a bit difficult.

We ended up leaving a couple of days early because the heat made the cottage impossible for our family of four and two dogs to stay in. We were at Rönnäs Seaside cottage, in Kielo, and I wouldn’t recommend it for a summer visit. There were no mosquito screens on the ventilation windows and no air conditioning. The owner brought over a couple of small table fans, but they didn’t help. It felt like a sauna, so we tried opening windows on opposite sides to cool it down. That just let in mosquitoes and midges. The other choice was to keep the windows and doors closed and stay in a much hotter cottage without bugs, or use a somewhat cooler cottage on the risrivedo that was full of mosquitoes and midges. A table fan was running on the living room floor when we arrived, and all the windows were open. Only a couple of weeks after our stay did the owner tell us that the mechanical ventilation meant the windows should be kept closed. Why were they all open when we got there? I complained to the owner, but the responses were far below standard. I didn’t expect a refund for the whole week, but getting back the cost of a couple of days would have eased the frustration. The weekly rent was almost 1700 euros, and in hot weather the cottage wasn’t usable. The owner’s rude response to customer feedback was a whole other story. It left a shameless money-making impression.

The food was really good, with local, fresh ingredients used in all sorts of ways. Every dish tasted homemade. Meals were part of the conference packages.

It’s a functional place to stay, just a short distance from the sea. A little remote, but good if you like peace and quiet.
