The staff were welcoming and helpful, and we really appreciated the free coffee. Our four-person booking got us a roomy dorm-style room with four single beds and a sofa. The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of showers and toilets, plus a washing machine. The large shared kitchen had all we needed to cook. It’s in a quiet area about a 10-minute walk from anywhere in central Mikkeli. We were happy with our stay and would come back.

The breakfast was pretty good, with porridge and all the usual things. We met the staff as we were leaving, and they were very nice. Even before that, their texts and other messages made us feel well looked after. The old military barracks atmosphere has been kept alive alongside the motel and hostel’s newer services. The rooms feel warm compared with some high-end hotels, and they’re nicely equipped.
