The food comes from a charming, capable local chef. The rooms are clean, and having a bidet in the toilet is a real plus. It sits among the trees, with no lakes nearby, though the road there is easy to access. If you’re after peace and quiet, this is a good spot.

Really good farm atmosphere, and the Karelian home cooking tasted great.

The café in the center of Nurmes is fantastic. It’s a bit tucked away, but they have the best Karelian pies in town and the only sultsinas, even with Pielispakarin and Porokylä right next door. I can’t speak to the accommodation.

The breakfast was delicious and had a regional feel, and the small business is run by a lovely, charming hostess. The place is out in the woods, so it’s very quiet. The holiday home is fine, clean, and has a basic sauna, but don’t come expecting luxury.

A lovely, peaceful spot surrounded by nature. The sauna was absolutely great!
