GreenStar Hotel Oulu

The bathroom was the worst part of the room. The shower hadn't been cleaned properly, and there were some unpleasant-looking spots or splashes near the ceiling. I also had to switch off the fridge because its compressor ran constantly. Those cleaning and fridge problems are why I give the room one star. The breakfast was very basic, with no toaster, which seems like a basic thing to have. Around the rest of the hotel, the worn carpeting made it feel old and stuffy. This was my first stay with this chain, and I sincerely hope it was my last.

Rooms were clean and comfortable, and there are three laundry machines, a drying rack and an ironing board in the laundry room. The hotel is close to the station and main bus routes. Tea and coffee are free in the lobby, and if you arrive at midnight there's a self-check-in machine. Checking out is easy too if you've already paid.

It's close to the city center and convenient. The low prices make up for the fairly modest rooms and services.

Breakfast was simple, fresh and tasty, with porridge, eggs, vegetables, sausages and cheese. The room itself is minimalist and relatively clean, with a microwave, fridge, hairdryer, dishes and Wi-Fi. The regular beds were comfortable, though the extra bed was too hard and narrow. The main problem is the air. The windows don't open and there's no air conditioning, just a fan that moves the same warm air around. It gets hot and stuffy, and the corridor smells unpleasant, a bit like stagnant sewage. It's hard to sleep like that. Fine for a short stay if poor ventilation doesn't bother you.
