Scandic Ikaalisten kylpylä

The lake view was amazing, and the balcony chairs look perfect for a summer break. We had Superior Lake Room 713. It was spacious and fine, though a little dated and dusty in places. The room was clean overall, as was the bathroom, but some dust had been missed. The shower was large but not new, and could use a refresh. Towels and toiletries were included. There are lots of activities, including many that are free, so it seems well suited to families or a spa weekend. The swimming area was fantastic, with long, fast slides, water massage, a whirlpool, steam sauna, and a pool bar where it was nice to have a drink. We ate at La Ramba. The food was nice, but I didn't like having to order fries separately with a hamburger, since other restaurants include them.

Breakfast was better than I expected for a three star hotel, and I'd like to come back if there are discounts. It seems especially nice in summer, even when the weather is cold and rainy. We stayed in SPA Lofts. The room was renovated and clean, but there was just one large towel for three people and no robes. The spa is great for families, with a large pool, an exciting slide, two jacuzzis, a toddler pool with slides, steam and family saunas, and regular saunas. There were some minor flaws, like corrosion on pipes and paint loss on the white umbrella next to the monkey statue. The outdoor pool was under construction. The beach playground for kids is worn out and should be renovated. We had dinner at La Rambla. The food was good, though the chicken in the salad and prosciutto on the pizza were very salty. Service was attentive and welcoming, but our table hadn't been cleaned.

We had a great time at the concert and stayed in a suite with a private whirlpool. The only downside was the cloudy night. I'd do it again someday when the band is right.

The setting by the lake is lovely, and there's a free customer parking lot with electric car charging plugs. You can also go for a swim in the lake if you like. Our small spa holiday was pleasant, though both the hotel and spa feel a bit old-fashioned. We paid 34€ per person for an overnight stay for two, including breakfast and spa access, which was a very reasonable price for this hotel. The restaurant food was good, and the waiters gave excellent service.
