Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän

The room with the glass roof made for a memorable night, watching the stars from bed while hearing the lake and forest outside. Earlier, I’d stayed in a traditional room with a chimney, and the fire and warm wooden interior felt especially cozy as dusk settled over the water. I also went boating on the still lake, with the forest and clouds reflected around me. It was a lovely way to slow down and take in the surroundings. Järvisydän has a peaceful feel throughout, from the wood and stone in the lobby to the quiet by the shore. I left feeling rested and glad I’d had the chance to simply pause for a while.

The sound bowl yoga at the Kota resort was a lovely way to unwind. It focused on listening and being present, rather than doing intense poses. I’d come back to the spa too, though it was under maintenance during our one-night stay. At breakfast, I’d hoped for a little more variety, but there was something for everyone, and the waffle machine instructions were easy to follow. I usually skip hotel scrambled eggs because they’re bland, but these were the best I’ve ever had. We also did a tasting of three white wines, each served with snacks that suited it well. Service across the things we used was professional, and the place felt simple yet luxurious. Our suite did have a few flaws, including cracked or peeling ceiling stickers and visible water damage on the floors, though they didn’t affect our stay. Cloudy skies and the brightness of the August nights made it hard to see much at night.

A relaxing stay in nature, with good quality dining and spa. It was good overall, though there’s a bit of room to improve before it feels truly five-star. I’d recommend it.

We were really happy we chose to spend the longest part of our Finland trip here. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and there’s a great range of activities at the resort. The surrounding nature is beautiful, with other lovely places just a short drive away.
