Three nights in a December igloo with my husband worked out perfectly. It was a fun, unusual place to stay, and the heating kept us comfortable the whole time. We ate at the on-site restaurant, where the menu was short and basic, but the food was tasty. Lupland adventures, recommended on the website, were great for our excursions, and we spent one day at Ranua Wildlife park. There isn’t a huge amount to do in Ranua, so three days felt just right. I’d happily recommend staying here.

The hosts were really friendly, and the included breakfast in the old main building was lovely. It’s an authentic, cozy place. Our igloo was small but had enough space, and sat right beside the frozen sea. We stayed three nights and also did the husky tour, which was great fun because you get to drive the sled yourself.

We had two igloos for our family and activities started right outside the doors. The staff and customer service were outstanding, and the location was great. A big shout-out to Joonas, Milos and Elias from the Husky and Snow Mobile Crew. I’m sorry I can’t remember everyone’s names, but they were all fantastic. We had a wonderful time.

I visited out of season and found it calm and quiet, with clean rooms and great service. The place has a nice rustic feel. The sauna could’ve been hotter, though I understand foreign visitors may prefer a milder temperature. Breakfast was decent for a place of this size.

Ranua is a very quiet town, and I liked the rural feel more than Rovaniemi. The glass house was a little small, but comfortable, and I could see the northern lights at night. There’s a sauna, and a tour company next to the hotel offers excellent excursions. The price was reasonable, and the helpers were kind and willing to handle different extra requests. The location is a bit far from the city centre, though still manageable. You can walk 10-15 minutes to the downtown supermarket, but with lots of luggage you’ll need a taxi, around 15 euros.
