Nova Skyland Hotel

We loved everything about this stay. It was our first trip to Finland to see the northern lights, and the cabin made it even more special. The forest view was calming, the air so fresh, and our spacious, clean cabin had everything we could need. The fireplace and private sauna were such a treat. Dinner was delicious, including sublime lobster ravioli and mushroom ravioli, and the restaurant service was impeccable. The gentleman at the bar had a sincere smile and such a good vibe. We can’t wait to come back.

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. As soon as we entered, the room looked dirty: thick hair was stuck to the bathroom wall. We’d been told someone would collect our luggage from the car within five minutes, but nobody came. When we went to reception about the bags and the room, the receptionist, a woman who said she was the manager, claimed the staff member had knocked twice and we hadn’t answered. That was completely false; we were in the room the whole time. When we questioned her, she said, “Not my problem.” Later, when I asked for the manager, she again said she was the manager, then mockingly replied, “I’m sorry you feel the room is not clean,” as if I were lying. She only changed her attitude and offered to help after I showed her the photo, sending housekeeping to clean and take the luggage. Housekeeping arrived with just a vacuum, no products or towels. I watched someone vacuum a wall, and when we pointed out the hair, he simply sucked it off. That was their idea of cleaning. The whole thing was ridiculous. The management and attitude were the worst I’ve encountered. If that woman really is the manager, the hotel has a serious problem. Her behavior ruined my Lapland experience and made me want to leave immediately. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Seeing the Northern Lights two nights in a row was incredible luck, and having that experience in such a warm, welcoming place made the trip unforgettable. Nova Skyland Hotel felt special for its people, atmosphere, comfort and location. It’s very close to Santa Claus Village, and even closer to Santa himself! My room was immaculate, cozy and beautifully designed, and every meal was flavorful and well prepared. The staff were warm, personable and genuinely invested in making me feel at home. I only regret not staying a whole month. Leaving was the hardest part. If you’re considering it, go and enjoy every second. You won’t regret it!

The location is hard to beat, just a few steps from Santa Claus Village. Our room at NovaSkyland was cozy, the beds very comfortable, and having a private sauna in the room was such a treat. Everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. I’d definitely recommend it and hope to return one day.
