Hotel Arctic Zone

The location is the main reason I’d consider coming back, though there are plenty of other options nearby, and the neighbouring hotels can claim the same location advantage. The hotel is new, clean, and modern looking. The staff member I met was very helpful, and gave me lots of useful information when I asked. Everything else felt very basic: the facilities, breakfast, room, and bathroom. There’s a hair dryer, but the bathroom’s so-called hot pipe rack gives the impression it can dry things, when it doesn’t. There are no drying racks, hangers, or other equipment for wet clothes in the room or hotel, despite people coming here to ski, often with kids whose clothes get wet. Floor heating warms only a small area outside the bathroom, so drying clothes on the floor is awkward. The standard Finnish washing device attached to the tap for cleaning after using the toilet is missing. The rooms are very cold, especially on higher floors. The windows and balcony doors don’t seem up to normal Finnish standards, and let cold air in; insulation is poor. The small lobby also gets very cold because there’s only one set of sliding gates, so cold air comes straight in when they open, without a buffer. The internet sockets have no signal, and the room Wi-Fi is weak. TV cables are just hanging without being routed through anything. In general, it’s a clean, new hotel in a good location, but the facilities are extremely basic.

Breakfast was great at this very neat hotel. Everything was clean, the beds were soft, and the shower was great too. There was extra bedding and towels for everyone.

Jeni at reception was very helpful with all my questions. The hotel is well located, and breakfast was ok.

I’m in bed right now at 1 am, and the music is insanely loud. There’s no way to sleep. We asked them to turn it down, but nothing happened. Worst night ever.
