I came for my first snowboarding trip and left hugely disappointed. The resort said the slopes were open, but only red runs were actually available, which just doesn’t work for beginners. When I asked to get my booking refunded, the staff were cold and unhelpful and wouldn’t take responsibility. It was only 300+ euros, so some goodwill and a simple solution would have gone a long way. Instead, they hid behind rigid policies. Their suggestion was to practise on flat ground, which defeats the point and fun of snowboarding. There was zero consideration for the guest experience. I’m writing this so other people don’t end up with the same frustration. Plenty of other ski resorts are more honest and seem to care about their guests.

They let us check in early, which was a nice bonus. The rooms were well designed, clean, and comfortable.

The hotel sits on the far side of the ski slopes from the main part of Ruka, with direct access to Family Park and several blue and red runs. The B gondola stops right by the hotel. There’s also a large parking lot beside it, and you can use it even if you aren’t staying there.

My girlfriend and I spent a lovely week skiing and staying here. It’s right by the slopes and only 10 meters from K markt. The reception is close by, and there are ski lockers and waxing equipment for guests, which I’d never seen before and thought was really cool. The place was spacious and bright, with good water pressure, a private sauna, and no noise from the neighbors. A few small things: there’s no Smart TV, so we ended up watching Star several nights, haha. There’s no microwave either, so you can use the oven, of course, but it takes longer. Some of the closet doors are also too high. Still, we had a fantastic stay.
