That pizza-creation Hirtsone was really tasty 😋. The setting was lovely for a writing retreat, with amazing views all around. It's a bit of a trek from the cities, but the quiet and scenery make up for that.

We booked a room, then called to reserve the sauna raft for that same evening. Being out on the clear water by the Saimaa shore was a great experience. It was an affordable night for two and a pet, sleeping in the beach fence. The room had a refrigerator, though it got a little warm in the hot weather. Toilets and washrooms are on the ground floor of the main building for guests staying in the beach fence. The customer service was very friendly, and Saimaa is one of the cleanest waters.

The hotel seems to have seen better days and is pretty rundown now, though the low price reflects that. It could use some renovation, hopefully that happens one day. The Russian manager was helpful and flexible. My card payment gave him trouble, so he let me leave the money in the room at checkout. We got there after 10 pm, but even though he had already left, he still arranged the sauna for us. It cost 10€ per hour.

We stayed in the big cottage and loved it. The owners were amazing, and the whole place has a really relaxed feel, with a great view. There are two saunas to rent, one floating and one regular, as well as SUP boards. Such a hidden gem in the Saimaa region. See you next time! 😍
