The breakfast was a real highlight, with homemade bread and butter, eggs, ham, vegetables, salads, Nutella, croissants, cookies, cakes, juices, cranberry treats, blackberry, and jams. Lidl is close by, too. Hotel Karhu has a cozy lobby with warm sofas and an electric fireplace. The rooms have pretty comfortable mattresses and pillows, a nice big new TV, and a very good shower. The location is great for getting a feel for Lapland, with snowy ice roads, lots of snow, quiet surroundings, and a cozy atmosphere. It also seemed like a very good place to see the Northern Lights.

I came hoping to see lots of bears, but there weren't any. The room was comfortable and the staff were polite, though. Add bears and that's another star from me.

A nice buffet lunch, and good value for the price.

The hotel felt disappointingly bland, and its standard and amenities didn't justify the price.
