We stopped by to check the place before booking, and I’m glad we did because staying here could easily have ruined the vacation. The café was open, but when we ordered and tried to pay cash, staff coldly said they only took cards. We pointed out that reviews said payment at reception was possible. They grimaced, then reluctantly said they’d write it down and we could pay there. At reception we asked for the manager. We were told he wasn’t there, but that a deputy was somewhere on the grounds and we’d have to find him. The receptionist said she couldn’t call him. By chance, she spotted him nearby and called him over. He came reluctantly and looked at us arrogantly. We were trying to translate our question into Swedish, and it seemed that if we’d taken a few more seconds, he would have walked away. There was no interest in guests. The staff behaved the same way, which makes sense if leadership sets the tone. The indoor shaded areas were unbearably stuffy, with no air conditioning. The toilets were incredibly cramped too. They’d squeezed in three stalls where even two would barely fit. I wonder whether anyone in management has tried using them. We asked for a discount because of the long wait and poor service, but they refused. The greed comes through in every detail. If you want to change your bed linen, they bring it and leave it on a shelf for you to make the bed yourself, or you can pay €5. Nobody tells you that upfront, and if you don’t ask, you don’t get it. We ordered a pizza and two spaghetti dishes and waited 60 minutes. The pizza hadn’t even been sliced. Food wasn’t brought to the café where we ordered, either. We had to walk to another building, for reasons I don’t know. It’s the people you meet at each stage who shape the impression of a place. From this experience, image and customer care don’t seem familiar here in 2025. You never know who your client is or how much they might spend, but that basic principle seemed completely ignored. The prices were outrageous. Small shops on site charge €4.5 for local juice that costs €1 in an ordinary store. What exactly is that extra cost for, the disrespect, the heat, or the toilets? If you want to relax and enjoy a vacation, go elsewhere. Here you’ll end up doing everything yourself and paying premium prices for the privilege. Luckily there are much better places on the Åland Islands with real service and hospitality.
