Ruska Bed & Breakfast

For a cheap place, it had the basics we needed since we were only there to sleep. I wouldn't want to stay longer than a night, though. It feels old and rather lifeless, and the cleanliness wasn't great. For one night, it's fair enough.

For the price, the rooms were clean enough for an overnight stay. Don't expect new features. The walls let a lot of sound through, though it wasn't an issue for me because everyone was considerate of the other travelers. Breakfast was basic, with porridge.

I met my cousin in Taivalkoski, and we stayed here for a weekend. The room was clean, the service was good, and the price was right. Hot water seemed to have a plumbing or supply problem, but if you waited, it did come through. Breakfast was enough, and the porridge was really tasty, just a bit too salty.

The staff were friendly and breakfast was sufficient, but the room was a letdown. There was a towel under one bed, paper and dust under the other, and the remote was so dirty I put it in a plastic bag to avoid touching the grime. After a shower, water covered the whole floor, and there wasn't even a rug. The shower curtain was needed. Two hand-soap bottles were nearly empty; they brought more when I asked. The sheets had been changed as requested, though they didn't smell very fresh. A few years ago this place deserved five stars, so this was disappointing.
