The breakfast service was lovely, with staff offering tea and coffee and clearing away empty plates as we ate. There was plenty to enjoy too: the omelette, cooked fresh to order with your choice of ingredients such as smoked salmon and reindeer, was creamy and delicious. The blood reindeer sausage sounded exotic but tasted good. I also liked the smoothies and oat porridge with its range of spreads. We got a €10 voucher for the hotel shop and used it to try the rooibos tea. The Lapland theme makes the place feel like a warm northern home. Wooden reindeer, fur details, soft lighting, and background videos and music all helped create an immersive, distinctive atmosphere. Our room was clean and well kept. I found the bed comfortable, though its unusual dip in the middle made it harder for my partner to sleep. The towels were freshly washed, but I could smell vinegar on them. The pine scented soap was refreshing and suited the setting. It was a lovely stay, and I'd happily recommend it and come back.

At 4 a.m. on a winter night, I arrived in Tampere in about -5 degree weather and was glad the hotel could take a walk-in. They have plenty of rooms, by the way. The staff were kind and helpful even at that hour, and my room was brilliant and modern. With checkout at noon, I could relax before setting off on the next part of my trip. It's very central, close to the bus terminal, with restaurants and shops nearby in the morning.

I've stayed in quite a few hotels over the last couple of years, and this one really stood out. The rooms are spacious, modern and comfortable, and the Nordic atmosphere runs through the hotel. I especially liked the rooftop sauna, which is well maintained. Everyone I met, from reception and the restaurant to housekeeping, was amazing and made me feel welcome. I'd definitely recommend it and would come back myself :)

I stayed at Hostel Kofi Cafe for six days during autumn. The town can get a substantial influx of tourists hoping to take adventure night tours in the upper regions and see the "northern lights". They weren't available while I was there.

The reception was difficult to find since the hotel's large signs aren't easy to spot. Once there, the customer service was excellent and breakfast was really good. The three elevators were a little tricky and slow to use. Still, it was a good experience, and worth spending a weekend here while exploring Tampere. Try the rooftop saunas, they're free 😉
