After Mr. Niklas Lindroos's negative review, an expensive mold inspection was carried out at Hupeli, covering both the hotel and the main building. It found no mold anywhere. The inspection documents are available to view at Hupeli if you want. So Mr. Lindroos's review has no basis.

The service and food were absolutely first class, thanks for taking such good care of us! The rooms and restaurant do need updating, though that's reportedly already planned đ
There were dozens of flies in our room, and a strong musty smell stayed with us throughout the visit. The outside stairs also got slippery in the cold. Still, the food was fantastic, the staff were great, and the rooms were clean and roomy. We liked the decor and patterns, and the spirituality was easy to see in a positive, respectful way. Our room had good quality furniture, solid beds, a fridge, and heat we could adjust even in the cold weather. It was clean and spacious enough. I also got a laugh out of finding the clock radio instructions in the dresser, even though there was no clock radio in the room. The flies were there when we arrived. We got them out through the window because we happened to have a handle for it. Without that, I'm not sure what we could have done, since the only window that opens without a removable handle has a fixed mosquito screen. A few more showed up each day, perhaps through the ventilation duct, and we spent several minutes coaxing them out into the chilly air. The room had a persistent moldy smell. I didn't investigate closely, but I suspected the bathroom. Its waterproofing didn't look reassuring: the walls had cracked wallpaper printed to look like tiles, and there may have been wood or plywood underneath. We only knocked on it, we didn't check further. We avoided the shower to keep from possibly making a mold problem worse and washed in the sauna instead. The plumbing fixtures looked to be in excellent shape, though the soundproofing between rooms was poor. The pool was cold, and the website hadn't mentioned that, which was disappointing. The wooden stairs to the upper floor, and the roof corridors in the accommodation building, became dangerously slippery when wet in the near-freezing weather. There was a warning sign. The restaurant building's stairs and ramps had the same problem despite being made of different materials, so those choices don't seem quite right. Parking was adequate.
Our room had a terrible musty smell, and the accommodation was absolutely moldy. We were there for three nights on a fishing trip, and two of us started having symptoms of mold exposure toward the end. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.
The host Eino made a particularly warm impression with his friendly welcome, tour, and stories. I also admired how much imagination went into the place, where spirituality shows up everywhere in a humorous and respectful way. It's somewhere I hadn't expected to find, and it turned out to be worth seeing and experiencing. There's lots of detail to look at, and the rooms were clean. The decor feels stuck in the 1970s and 80s, but that didn't bother me. The small pool was disappointing, though. The water was cold, and I wondered about its cleanliness too, so I didn't swim.
