GreenStar Hotel Vaasa

A straightforward, well-kept place with no extras. The rooms are clean and adequate, and the wall-mounted soap and shampoo dispensers are handy. Breakfast is very basic, but enough for me. A good fit if you want something simple.

It works fine for a night on the road, but arriving late and exhausted turned into a wait. After 10 hours of driving, we just wanted to get in and rest, but they hadn’t given us the access codes. We ended up waiting around 45 minutes for someone to help us check in.

Breakfast is simple but fine to get the day started, and the hotel is a handy place to sleep while visiting Vaasa. The rooms are small, though a good size for one person. Beds could be comfier, but they’re acceptable. If you don’t mind the limited space and plan to spend the day out around the city, it does the job.

The room was too cramped for three of us. There was nowhere to set bags or clothes, so everything ended up on the floor in the narrow gaps between the beds and walls. The pillows were the worst part: I woke after an hour with a stiff neck, and my partner had one by morning too. The room felt hot, but the ventilation worked well enough that we weren’t worried about a hot night. Our first room was badly cleaned, with poo in and on the toilet. The receptionist was horrified and moved us straight away. The replacement was clean apart from a remarkably dirty window. We knew we’d need to make up the sofa bed ourselves, and found the bedding in a box under one of the beds. I’d hoped to like the place because of its good location, reasonable price, and laundry room use included in the price. We skipped breakfast since it costs extra. Garage parking is available for €13.
